I’m pretty sure Lindsay and Kris were the first couple to book with me for 2011. Lindsay contacted me even before I was ready to take 2011 bookings! It all began when… two years ago I photographed a lovely couple named Mike and Kristina. Little did I know Mike’s cousin Lindsay was engaged and loved their wedding photography so much that she contacted me about her own wedding. All this time later her own wedding day finally arrived and I got to be Kris and Lindsay’s wedding photographer! What a joy it was to work with you two, and to know how long you’ve waited for this day. Here is a little bit of what we captured for you….
In Penticton, overlooking the lake with an amazing view, Lindsay and her girls were preparing for the big day in her parents condo, while the boys were across the street in the hotel. As you see, every detail of Kris and Lindsay’s wedding was classy and remarkably elegant.
That is one killer gorgeous diamond you put on Lindsay’s finger, Kris!
Though Kris and Lindsay live at the coast, they are truly fond of Penticton and the surrounding area. The wedding party piled into the limo and we ventured off to Naramata where we stopped at the Red Rooster Winery for some Red Rooster Winery Wedding Photography. We had a great time using the vineyards and buildings for backgrounds, and when we took off for the romantic shoot the wedding party relaxed and had a wine tasting.
Thanks you to our assistant Krista for covering some interesting detail shots while we worked with the wedding party.
When Lindsay told me that she wanted a modern shoot and that she loves concrete, I was super stoked! Steve and I have incorporated urban wedding photography into many shoots… but knowing that Lindsay wanted primarily modern and urban for a good portion of the couple shoot, I knew we were in for some real fun! I had a great time scouting around the artsy and cultural town of Penticton and made a hand drawn route for us to follow to some neat spots. Using walls, fences, staircases, and surfaces of many textures and colors… there was even a touch of Paris in the air at times.
I enjoy shots like the one above where it’s like the viewer is spying into a secret moment between a bride and groom, almost like the photographer doesn’t exist. Shooting in an urban setting creates this feeling because as the world passes by, none of it matters…just love. I had fun with that.
Kris and Lindsay’s ceremony and reception were held at Penticton Lakeside Resort, who also served up some delicious food to combine with their heartfelt and humorous speeches.
As an observer with my camera, I can say, Kris and Lindsay, that you showed your guests a marvellous time here in the Okanagan! Your wedding was elegant and classy and wherever I looked throughout your reception there were smiling faces and your guests were truly happy for you two! After hearing all the speeches I know what restaurant I want to visit when I’m in your area…spaghetti sounds good!
Kris, by you telling me how much you enjoyed the photo sessions, you made my day! I’m glad we were able to make the photography enjoyable for you! You being at ease and having a good time shows in the photos…you both look amazing and relaxed!
Lindsay, what a sweetheart you are! You are incredibly loveable through and through. All day long you were so lovely and appreciative, thank you for being so conscientious of us! Thank you for booking with me so long ago, I’m so glad your cousins wedding led us together!
Congratulations Newsons! Your day was a wedding day worth the waiting for in every way possible!
